Walking Papers is comprised of seasoned talents, when meshed together it’s damn near impossible not to combust into the musical heavens. Jeff Angell, the recognized lyrical god from Seattle, made a lasting impression when he met the  previous Velvet Revolver and Guns N’ Roses’ bassist,  Duff McKagan. Inevitably Angell was the element that aligned the stars and brought the members of Walking Papers together.  Humble beings make up this mixture of musicians. With one of their best qualities knowing when to avoid the dead end and press forward.

Angell auditioned for Velvet Revolver back in the 90’s, and ever since then McKagan has been itching to work with him. Fourteen years later when Angell called McKagan asking if he would like to collaborate with him and Barrett Martin, former drummer from Seattle’s Screaming Trees and Mad Season, the answer was instantaneously yes. Bringing in keyboardist Benjamin Anderson who played with Angell in Seattle’s band The Missionary Position, Walking Papers became one.

“It’s the four best guys to do the thing that we’re doing. And how did it become the thing we’re doing? Who knows? The songs are great. It just happened. It’s that musical happenstance of four guys meeting at the exact right time. The chemistry’s just right. We’re pals. And here we are.” McKagan tells CBS News.

Thriving off each other’s unique talent offered in the band, Walking Papers does not fall in the typical genres of music.  Creating a sound almost similar to the dark Tom Waits, ranging to sensual Latin music, with Black Sabbath aspects and even blues rock, you simply just have to listen. Having a world-renowned award winning musician in their band comes with a plethora of knowledge, including how to make a lasting impression dodging bullets the whole way and surfing the music wave of success.

With full creative concentration, passion and a genuine soul, McKagan shares his viewpoint on musical success with CBS News: “You can’t do more than one thing at once. This is what I’m doing right now and the only thing I’m doing”
